I died as mineral and became a plant,
I died as plant and rose to animal,
I died as animal and I was man.
Why should I fear?
When was I less by dying?
Yet once more I shall die as man,
To soar with angels blest;
But even from angelhood I must pass on ...

Written by the islamic mystic Hazrat Jalal-ud-Deen Rumi.

The plant has yet not reached as far as the animal in development. It is unable to form detailed images or sense to a greater extent on the physical plane. It can not smell, see, hear or taste, but it can register on a small scale the comforts and the discomforts of the outside physical world. Its life is mainly an inner life. Its a refugee from the divine kingdom of light.

On the stage of development where we find the flesh eating plant who's capable of grabbing and eating bugs, the plant has come further in its development and abilities as a result of millions of years bombardment of the senses from the ouside world of elements. It has been burned, cut, trampled on and blown in the wind. It is not in vain that the beautiful green grass blows in the wind, even if you think the wind has no higher purpose. Because in this way it is being awakened to a life in the physical world.
